Our vision is to provide the tools neccesary so each child has the ability to fully express themselves.
Art is a vehicle to reach out to students. Engaging them with art enriches their study with all other curriculum subjects. Our strategy is aimed to spark the energy of world peace by igniting the passion of learning in the world’s children.
In using the research based principles of integrating the arts in the general curriculum, we hope to increase self-esteem and thinking skills in children to help them become better world citizens. Wherever there is a need, drawchange wants to be there providing art supplies.
Jennie first became involved in the public arts at the age of thirteen when she was involved in the painting of a city mural. Soon thereafter, she was given the opportunity to lead a team of “at-risk” children through the development of another inner city mural. After seeing the immediate impact the project made in their lives, she knew her destiny of helping children with art awaited. Today she joins ‘drawchange’ with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a perfect understanding of why children need art.
-“As a first generation American, being provided with the tools necessary to express myself as a child was immeasurable. I only wish I could grant every child on earth the same opportunity.”
E. Anne Maffett, a native Atlanta entrepreneur, joins drawchange with an extensive background in banking finance, sales and training. Now retired, she is pleased to share her business expertise with drawchange. Anne has committed her life to the compassionate empowerment of others by providing the encouragement and tools needed for their success. “Drawchange’s mission finally clicked with me when Jennie explained that creativity through art literally unlocks a child’s imagination. From that creative expression, the child can imagine a better world for him/herself and break the cycle of despair.”
Christian comes to drawchange with an extensive and successful background in business and non-profit development. With a passion for the arts, Christian understands the importance instilling the wonderful world of art in children. He holds a bachelors of fine arts from Valdosta State University and is an accomplished painter and writer. "There is art in everything we see, and children see art in it's simplest and most true form."
Nicole joins drawchange with an understanding that the generations
before must make sacrifices for and investments in the future
generations so that any and all of their dreams are possible. She is
the product of such sacrifices and investments and has made a
commitment to “pay-if-forward”. While studying law at North Carolina
Central University School of Law, she taught “street law” to high
school students at a school in Durham, NC. And while practicing law
in New York, she participated in a mentor program for high school
students with a goal towards providing them with the tools necessary
to achieve success while in high school, college and beyond. During
her participation in those programs, she witnessed the growth of
academic curiosity and confidence in the students and mentees. "I am dedicated to contributing to the lives of young children and will continue to do so through drawchange!"
Barbara Huffman has an undergraduate degree in education and a Masters of Divinity equivalent from Unity School of Christianity. Barbara has been working with children all of her life, from the years she was a classical ballet instructor through life as a Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School teacher, Pre-school teacher, and more. She served in the education department of a children’s hospital for eight years. Ballet was Barbara’s first art experience, which was closely followed by years of music and fine art lessons. Today, Barbara continues to help children as she delivers food to those in need throughout Georgia. "I couldn't of asked for a better opportunity to continue to continue to serve the world's children then with drawchange!"
Noelle comes to drawchange with a commitment to helping children succeed. She has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Georgia in Child and Family Development. While attending UGA she interned with a program through her school that brought together "at-risk" children and their families. After college she taught families at Gymboree Play and Music, and also tutored inner-city youth. With over 10 years of developmental experience with children, Noelle is a huge asset to the team. -"I was blessed to grow up with everything I needed and more, and I am grateful to be in a position to help children realize their true creative potential."

It all began with a mission trip to Cartago, Costa Rica. Painting murals with elementary school children provided a vessel for them to express their creativity, giving them hope for their futures. Seeing how their perspectives were easily changed in the process, motivated me upon my return to try and extend the same opportunity to the world’s children. I am honored to know that the murals are still proving today to inspire the children to continue with their education.
I returned with a mission and a goal of world peace in mind. If you would like to learn more, please contact us. |

“Students in "arts rich" schools scored higher in creativity-imagination, expression, cooperative learning, risk-taking, and measures of academic self-concept than students in "arts poor" schools.”*
