For many children across the nation, summer camps are a staple experience that is marked by empowering experiences, lifelong friendships, and plenty of fun. Research by the American Camp Association affirms that quality camp experiences support positive social-emotional outcomes for participating youth.
Our Art Camp, in particular, fosters creativity, teamwork, and self-esteem. Our mission is to provide a safe and imaginative space where campers can express themselves, create art, and learn important socio-emotional skills that can impact how they socialize in the future.
Summer camps in Atlanta: drawchange Art Camp
We're drawchange, an Atlanta-based non-profit dedicated to empowering unhoused children through art therapy programs. Our Summer Art Camp is a crucial outlet for fun and development, especially for children aged 5-9 from different socioeconomic backgrounds in Atlanta, GA.
All camp sessions are led by our trusted, background-checked, and CPR/first aid certified teachers. Moreover, all projects and programming are planned around our seven core competencies:
Imagination
Collaboration
Empowerment
Dream-Building
Self-Esteem
Creation
Stress Relief
Our curriculum is set to help children build skills that benefit them long after their summers at Art Camp. Activities such as “My Art Can Help You” allow children to exercise effective communication skills and foster an understanding of one another. Other activities, such as “Giving Away My Favorite Things” support children to build more appreciation for the things they create. These types of skills, taught at such a young age, can last a lifetime. Furthermore, these skills learned during camp can carry over to their performances at school and work.
